FINANCE DIRECTOR/SR QUALITY ENGINEER - DELL
Responsible for developing and tracking the operational performance and P&L impact of over $2 billion in cost reduction initiatives in support of the world’s largest technology acquisition with EMC.
Managed Service Programs and Go-to-Market strategies for multiple programs totaling over $1 billion in revenues.
SPECIAL CONSULTANT, SAN FRANCISCO STATE UNIVERSITY
Advised on real estate development and valuation strategies for San Francisco State University. Additionally, introduced project management techniques and reporting dashboards.
DIRECTOR, STRATEGIC PROJECTS AND FINANCIAL ANALYSIS FOR THE BOARD OF REGENTS
Managed numerous system-wide and local projects for the Office of the President, improved operational efficiencies and business process re-engineering and served as liaison and/or member for the Office of the President on several critical system-wide committees, task forces, and Board Committees.
Success: Crystalized UCOP’s strategic vision and goals; built inaugural project portfolio design and launched and lead operational efficiency initiatives resulting in significant operational savings for the University system.
Operations Excellence & Project Management
Supervised a permanent staff of internal project managers and outside consultants for project support and implementation including change management.
Managed portfolio redesign for system-wide projects sponsored by the President and oversaw strategy planning for Business Operations to allow better prioritization and optimization of a $25 billion University budget and resources.
Initiated and staffed system-wide initiative (“Working Smarter”) that identified projects and redesigns that resulted in University savings of over $500 million over 5 years.
Completed numerous projects including, but not limited to, Budget Development Redesign, Health Benefits Redesign ($1.5 billion program), multiple internal unit reviews and redesign, system-wide fund accounting redesign, Energy Procurement, UC Online Education design, and Capital Real Estate support.
Organized as Lead Staff the Commission on the Future of the University of California, chaired by the Board Chairman and President to define the future vision of the University of California.
ASSOCIATE, LEHMAN BROTHERS
Provided investment banking and underwriting services to assist institutions in raising capital and managing budgets.
Success: As Senior Manager, provided management throughout the project life cycle for a wide variety of debt issuers including the State of California, Public and Private Utilities, Community College Districts and Counties, that included over $5 billion of initial public offerings.
Created a Trust for the Peralta Community College District for the pre-funding of OPEB (“Other Post Employment Benefits”) liabilities.
Assessed and developed credit analysis and presentations for rating agencies including forecasting of revenues and organizational growth and stability in anticipation of initial public offerings and credit ratings valuation.
Created financial models to assist institutions in achieving savings through market improvements and hedging opportunities.
ASSOCIATE, UBS INVESTMENT BANK
Provided investment banking and underwriting services to assist institutions in raising capital and managing budgets
Success: Structured and marketed over $1.5 billion IPO for the Public Buildings Authority of Puerto Rico that resulted in over $50 million of debt service relief and optimized arbitrage strategy.
As Senior Manager, assisted in developing and marketing the Virginia Resources Authority’s $103 million inaugural Fall Pooled Loan Financing Program and its $10.8 million Airports Revolving Fund Bonds.
As Senior Manager, structured $55 million Pension Obligation Bonds for the Orlando Utilities Commission.
PROJECT LEADER, APPLIED MATERIALS
Managed several projects for the Change Management organization in support of manufacturing. Rated in the top 5% and awarded the Employee of the Quarter for exceptional achievement during Q4 FY1999.
Lead cost-saving initiative and managed organization that reduced manufacturing parts shortages by 90% and improved vendor on-time delivery by 15% while implementing new “Just In Time” replenishment system
